The ceremonial annual kick off to ski season is nearly upon us. This year on November 11th at the Boulder Theatre Warren Miller’s film ‘Off the Grid’ will show…and I will be there.
I have gone every year since moving to Colorado and have dragged as many people as possible along with me each time. This year Orlando and Pauline are coming again and Adam and Allison (freshly minted Coloradoans) will join us too. I also invited pretty much everyone from the office, but I’m not sure if anyone got tickets or will go.
For those of you that aren’t familiar with his films, they are an annual series of films dating back nearly 50 years. Warren narrates them himself telling the story of each adventure the skiers take throughout the film. Skiers and non-skiers alike usually find the stories very entertaining and engaging. The skiing is outstanding and you get swag with your ticket price. If the show comes to a theatre near you I would definitely recommend checking it out…
We got our first major weather event yesterday and today just in time to disrupt Dad’s plans in Colorado springs. Depending on where you were it looks like there was between 5 and 20 inches. The further south or west the more snow fell. Thats great news for the ski resorts. Keystone announced today that they would open a week earlier on November 3rd. Hooray!
Another major element in my life lately has been planning a trip to Italy for Steph and I. She is in Michigan now and for the next several months, but she has the second part of February and first part of March off from school…so we are going to Italy! Neither of us have been before, so it is really exciting for us. It will also be my first time out of North America so I figured that I should not use a travel agent and figure it all out myself :) Stephanie has been really good at letting me try to figure it out (although I’m sure she would prefer a travel agent). The plan is to spend 4 days in Venice, 6 days in Cortina, and 1 night in London. Finding the hotels has been a challenge, but I think we are all set (for now).
So many of you have heard about Steph and my new puppy Kodiak (Kodi). He was born on May 11th 2006 and he is a labradoodle. He has been a lot of fun and is a very good friend…
This pic is from our first trip to the breeder. He was only a couple weeks old and couldn’t barely open his eyes.
This if from our second trip. He had started to walk around a little better and open his eyes. His eyes were almost blue when we first got him, now they are black like the rest of him. Check out how tall he is in comparison to the grass…
This is our 3rd trip. He had at least doubled in size again…
Same trip with his brothers and sisters…
Finally we got him home at just about 8 weeks old!
…and this is a pic from when Mom came to visit. We took him to the Brainard Lake Park near Ward just west of Boulder…
Notice that we are trying to drag him into the water and he just wants to sit on the beach and eat seaweed (errr lakeweed)
So, here I sit at the blog business summit and I think ‘hey, I have an idea…why not make a blog?’ I have enough friends and family distributed across the country and I don’t get or always make the time to have meaningful conversations with each of you on a regular basis. I think this might help everyone know what exactly is going on in my life without actually having to talk to me ;)
